A journey of courage, love, and joy.

Ayla Fisher came into the world in 2020, and from her very first moments, she showed extraordinary strength. Shortly after birth, Ayla faced serious medical challenges that required intensive care and led to a diagnosis of global brain injury and stage 5 quadriplegic cerebral palsy. Her early days were filled with uncertainty, but Ayla held on with a determination that continues to inspire everyone who meets her.

Despite her medical complexities: seizures, therapies,  and the need for full-time support -Ayla radiates a rare and beautiful light. She smiles with her whole spirit. She connects deeply with the people who love her. She feels joy, music, laughter, and the world around her in her own special way.

Ayla’s progress has taken her across Canada and around the world for innovative therapies, including treatments in India that have shown remarkable signs of new neurological activity. She has become a symbol of resilience and possibility -a child who continues to surpass expectations in ways big and small.

But Ayla’s story is not only about her challenges.

It is a story about love:

• The love of her mother, Jenna, who has dedicated every day to her care.

• The love of her father, Dave, who advocates fiercely for her needs.

• The love of her sister Emma, her constant helper and gentle protector.

• The love of a family who never stops learning, searching, and hoping.

And out of that love, something beautiful was born:

the We Love Joy Foundation -a nonprofit created to bring comfort, guidance,
and community to families who, like Ayla’s, are navigating the world of medical
complexity and disability.

From Ayla’s journey also came AskAyla, a global platform being built to support
families emotionally and practically as they face life-changing diagnoses, therapies,
and systems that can feel overwhelming. Though Ayla cannot speak, her life
communicates so much- compassion, connection, and joy -and AskAyla was inspired by
her ability to touch every heart she meets. Ayla reminds us every day that joy can bloom in the hardest places. That strength can come in the smallest bodies. And that one child’s life can spark a movement that will help families around the world. Ayla is here. She is cherished. She is the heart of a foundation dedicated to bringing hope and light to others.

Our story

Our Founders: Nancy Corcoran & Jayne Nagy

Sisters Nancy Corcoran and Jayne Nagy created the We Love Joy Foundation after Ayla Fisher’s birth transformed their family’s world. As Ayla’s grandmother and aunt, they witnessed firsthand the emotional and practical challenges families face when caring for a medically complex child.

Rather than letting that pain stay silent, Nancy and Jayne channelled it into purpose. Nancy brings her strength in community building, leadership, and compassion, while Jayne brings her gift for storytelling as the author of the We Love Joy children’s books - stories inspired by kindness, resilience, and Ayla’s light.

Together, they built the We Love Joy Foundation to ensure families feel supported, informed, and never alone.
Their shared mission is simple and powerful: to spread joy, offer guidance, and create a community of hope for families around the world.

The Daisy

The daisy is at the heart of our foundation because it represents everything we believe in: joy, hope, resilience, and new beginnings. To us, the daisy symbolizes: Innocence & childhood - A reminder of the pure, gentle spirit children bring into the world. Joy in small moments- Daisies bloom simply and quietly - just like the moments of joy families discover even in difficult journeys. Strength wrapped in softness A daisy bends without breaking, standing tall through wind and weather- a reflection of the resilience of medically complex children and their families. New beginnings - For every family, every chapter, every small victory. Ayla’s light - This flower reflects Ayla’s personality: gentle, bright, strong, and deeply loved.
Her joy inspired the creation of the We Love Joy Foundation and continues to guide its mission.

  • "Born from love, carried by hope, and strengthened by community."
